Dressing for your body shape

We’re all different. We all come in various shapes and sizes, which can sometime make it difficult when buying clothes. Though we’re firm believers in wearing whatever makes you FEEL good, we also know that a lot of you want to know how to accentuate your figures based on your body shape. We’ve outlined the most common female body types below and included some tips on how you can use fashion to find new ways to love your body.

If you’re….

Hourglass – Curvy with a small waist.

You need to accentuate those curves by choosing styles that emphasise your waist. Choose crop tops and high-waisted skirts.

If you’re….

Apple – Slim legs and hips, but carry a lot of wait around your mid-section.

Apple’s tend to have a larger bust and wider shoulders, with some weight possibly around the middle. You’ll usually have slimmer legs which is why it’s important to highlight them by choosing shorter styles and shift dresses that will skim over your mid-section. Avoid belts or clothes that go in at the waist because this will only draw attention to any weight around your middle.

If you’re….

Pear – Widest part is hips and bum, with smaller bust.

If you’re a pear shape, you need to create balance in your body shape by showing off your top section, i.e. your shoulders and arms. Off the shoulder dresses make your top half look wider so will create symmetry.

If you’re….

Rectangle – Straight hips and bust.

Rectangle’s tend to have a ‘straight up and down’ look with smallish bust and hips. Create curves by wearing clothes with a nipped-in waist, and go for clothes with texture. Ruffles will add volume to your shape.
